New collection of the GERDA home visits-data launched in Ostrobothnia, Finland

In the near future, people in Ostrobothnia who are 85 years and older will receive an invitation to participate in a new round of the GERDA home-visit study. This time, the research targets the municipalities of Vaasa, Korsholm, Korsnäs and Malax. For this initiative, the project has hired two new data collectors: Erika Storm and Pia Nygårdas.
The data collection will begin with those who are 95 years and older, and at a later stage all 90‑year‑olds and every second 85‑year‑old in the municipalities will also be invited to take part in the study.
In addition to general questions about wellbeing, quality of life and health, the study also includes measurements such as blood pressure, gait speed and handgrip strength. The researchers are happy to contact family members if needed, in cases where the older participant cannot answer themselves.
